Visit us at the Fair – Celebrating 35 Years!

If the 2022 Tillamook County Fair is on your calendar, then a stop at the Tillamook County Master Gardeners Learning Garden is a ‘MUST SEE’. The Learning Garden is our show piece, and we are darn proud of it, too! This year marks our 35th Anniversary of serving the Tillamook County community and we invite you to share in our celebration.

Over the last few months, we have been preparing the garden for the 2022 Tillamook County Fair – Hay Bales and Cow Tails. The dahlia beds are in full bloom, blueberries are ripening on the bushes – (just the right height for ‘kid snacks’), the strawberry bed boasts a rim where you can sit alongside and sample. Our pollinator garden is full showy plants enjoyed by bees and butterflies. Looking for ideas on Deer Resistant plants? We have some of those, too. Native Plants? The entire garden is surrounded by thriving native plants all labeled. Bring a pad of paper to take notes!

While the adults enjoy a respite in the shade of the monstrous Sycamore Maple tree, the kids can explore the garden. Possibly find a book on ‘Cow Tales‘, learn how to plant a Rainbow Garden, – they will have to locate the rainbow-colored plants first, though -, or Make a Wish at our garden fountain.

To further pique your interest, explore the Wheelbarrow Salsa Bar, a vertical Tossed Topsy Turvy Salad and examples of growing veggies in grow bags, feed troughs and repurposed pots. Educational displays and demonstrations, (some ‘freebies’, too) are located in the Doug Holman Hoophouse.

Tillamook County Master Gardeners will be hosting the Learning Garden from 10am to 7pm each day. We Would love to see you there!
